War, God and Sexuality

When members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas picketed outside 20-year-old Marine Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder funeral at St John's Catholic Church in Maryland yelling out "God hates fags" and "God kill US soldiers to punish gay Americans", it's another sign that some of the Christian right has taken it too far once again and showing no respect to the bereaved (this was at a funeral!).

I'm wondering if these Westboro Baptist church members have thought about what Christ said on compassion and not judging others? It is so simple to put oneself on the moral high ground and condemn others.

In such times when the gay community across the world is on the attack for Christians and conservatives being homophobic, why are we giving them the chance for this criticism? I don't think we'll know fully of God's will until our own Judgment Day, so why the haste in thinking we do and denounce everybody else in the process?
